Poetry Month - Day 18: Skip

My son, Sean is getting married in September and I'm trying to lose weight before the wedding. I think it's obvious, from the way I used the word Skip in my poem, that it's weighing on my mind (pun intended)! Thanks, Julie Rowan-Zoch, for suggesting today's word!!

Skip

To lose some weight, I’ll need to skip:
potato chips with onion dip,
pepperoni pizza pies,
hamburgers with salty fries,
milkshakes that are thick and rich,
white bread meals that end with “wich”,
pasta with a creamy sauce -
that’s the way to see some loss!

Cut out cakes and cookies too,
yummy donuts filled with goo,
chicken nuggets fried in lard,
candies, whether soft or hard,
pancakes, bacon, sausage links,
even alcoholic drinks.
Skipping these will make me thinner.
Not today - it’s time for dinner!
