Poetry Month - Day 1: Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious

I hope you've had a chance to check out some of the websites I put in my post yesterday - they are chock full of poetry goodness!

Now, here's my poem, using the word suggested by my college friend, Patti.  I hope you like it!

Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious

Last night I had a brainstorm and created a new game.
For every day in April, I’ll pick words that aren’t the same.

It’s sort of like March Madness - I’ll write poems in which I use 'em

And, since I like a challenge, I’ve invited friends to choose 'em.

So, Patti Harris posted one - she’s always been precocious!
It’s Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious!

Come back tomorrow to see what crazy word my friends think up next!

April is National Poetry Month - Again!

It's April and that means it's National Poetry Month!  Last year I participated in Rena Traxel's A to Z Poetry Month, Blogging from A to Z, NaPoWriMo, and Kidlit Progressive Poem!  Even though I knew April was coming and I knew it would be Poetry Month, I didn't think about participating until last night!  So, since it was too late to join a challenge, I made up my own.  Here's how it will work:

I have asked my Facebook friends to help my by posting a challenging word every day in April and the first word posted will be the word I'll use to write a poem.  I'll post the poems here and on my Lori Degman - Children's Book Author page before the end of each day.  I'd love if you would add your own poems here in the comment section and post or link to it on my FB page!

There are celebrations all over the internet (in addition to those listed above). Here are some links to blogs and pages I know about.  If you know of some I didn't list, please share it in the comment section.

See you later today with poem # 1!  Can't wait to read your poems too!!
