" . . . Degman's giggle-inducing rhymes move this read-aloud story along: "2 sporty zebras in goggle and flippers / were snipping the walrus's whiskers with clippers. / One did the combing, the other the trimming, / They swept up the clippings, then all four went swimming." Kids will enjoy hearing the catchy rhymes read multiple times. Digital cartoon images, made to appear like hand-drawn ink sketches, capture the swift movement and playful mood. Overall, this is a fun romp through the zoo."

School Library Journal Review
1 Zany Zoo was reviewed in the July edition of the School Library Journal. I'm pretty happy with it - here's an excerpt:

what a wonderful review! You must be thrilled! Good for you. And 1 Zany Zoo sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terry. It's a relief to get positive reviews - they're not raving about it but they're not panning it either :-)
ReplyDeleteWow Lori, is sounds great! When is the book coming out? Me and my daughters are waiting for it. I never could spot a box of Cheerios with the book. So, well, we just will have to buy it. (I like hard covers better anyway!) Ozge
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ozge! I have some extra little books from the Cheerios - if you want one, send me your mailing address and I'll send you one. My email is Ldegman@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a wonderful summer!
Awesome review, Lori. Your book sounds amazing and so fun to read. Like Ozge, my grocery store did not double as a book store and I never found a box with your name on it.
ReplyDeleteI would love to buy a hardcover for my preschool if they are available.
Thanks, Cat! The hardcover will be out July 20th and is already on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and Borders online. Unfortunately, B&N and Borders aren't carrying the book in their stores - apparently, they're only buying authors with a track record :-(
ReplyDeleteIf you want a mini book, email your mailing address to me and I'll send you one. My email is Ldegman@aol.com
Woo Hoo! That'd be a fun one to print. Congrats and good luck as you go through the journey.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Anita!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great review! It is such a fun story! (I've always felt sort of special since I got a sneak peak when making your book trailer) :) That's why I can't wait to buy it too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Blee! I loved the trailer you made for me. Maybe we should put it back on youtube - what do you think?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the great review!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Lori, from a fellow Mac 79er!
ReplyDeleteHey, who are you? Your profile pic doesn't help!
ReplyDeleteReally? So I'm a little hairier than when prowling the Jane halls--it's Dennis M.
ReplyDeleteDennis McManus - how are you?! What are you doing these days? Are you living around here or did you move back east? Do you keep in touch with any Mac alums?
ReplyDeleteQuick rough version between morning hikes--couple years in Macomb, 15 years in Boston, 10 years in Duluth, MN, since end of May I've been working and living in Yellowstone. I'll be here til mid-October; you can check out photos on my blog. No, not in touch with any Mac alums. Good to "see" you!
