Poetry Month - Day 4: Magenta

I've been so busy with work and getting ready for the workshop I'm teaching on Saturday, I almost didn't get today's poem done.  I had accepted the fact that it wouldn't be very good and I would have to live with it.  But, I ended up liking it a lot!  I hope you do too!   Today's word was suggested by my old (as in long time) friend, Elaine.

Magenta
I know an old woman, with hair of magenta,
who always butts in - she’s a regular yenta!

“So, what are you doing and where are you going?”
“Go put on a dickie, your bossom is showing!”

“You'd better not slouch or you'll get a hunched back”
“You’ve gained a few pounds, Dear, you don’t need that snack!”

I’m losing my patience.  I can’t take her prying.
But when I complain, she insists that she’s dying.

I’ll have to distract her if I’m gonna to beat her.
I’ll get her a job as the new Walmart greeter!
